§ 18-221. Title and purpose.

  • (a)

    This article shall be known and may be referred to as the "demolition code" of the City of Niles, Michigan.

    (b)

    The purpose of the demolition code is to protect the public's health, safety and general welfare by ensuring that the demolition of structures is done in a safe and timely manner; to ensure that demolition sites are restored to a safe, clean and acceptable condition within a reasonable amount of time; to protect the public utility infrastructure (water, sewer, gas, electric, telephone, streets, etc.) from damage or contamination; to promote future redevelopment and economic improvement of property once demolition has taken place.
