§ 54-201. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Applicant means any person applying for a license under this article, or any person applying for a driver's permit under this article, as the case may be.

    For hire means for remuneration or reward of any kind, paid or promised, either directly or indirectly.

    Taxicab means a motor vehicle designed to carry passengers operating on the public streets, alleys and quasipublic places of the city, and accepting passengers for transportation for hire on call or demand, between such points as may be directed by the passenger.
